Research Laboratory Technician II-Microbiology

Under general supervision, follows standard procedures in laboratory testing, in evaluating various routine assays and in performing tasks related to stability studies, sterility testing, investigating product complaints, and evaluating new and existing products. Independently reads specifications and procedures. Requires knowledge of the processes involved in documenting experiments. Maintains laboratory notebook, testing records, or worksheets according to established laboratory and manufacturing procedures. More specifically, ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of molecular biology, especially a basic understanding of how DNA sequences are characteristically organized into genes (i.e., the specific types of sequences to look for in a database such as GenBank, etc.). Experience working with and maintaining stocks of bacterial cultures (e.g., good aseptic technique, etc.). Familiarity with molecular biology techniques especially including the isolation of bacterial DNA, labeling DNA sequences for use as probes, performing Southern hybridizations, and PCR experiments. Experience in antibiotic susceptibility testing of bacterial isolates a plus but not mandatory. -Bachelor's degree in related field of Science required; Master's Degree preferred -2-4 year's research lab experience -Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. -Must be able to work independently with little supervision -Organizational skills required -Analytical skills required -Must be able to work in a team environment
