Position Details:
LECTURER IN SWAHILI, AUGUST 2009. The Department of Linguistics at the University of Iowa invites applications for a half-time lecturer in Swahili. This is a one year appointment, renewable for a total of three years (2009-12) and renewable thereafter in three-year increments pending demonstrated excellence in teaching and collegiate approval. Candidates must have native or near-native proficiency in Swahili, experience teaching both elementary and intermediate Swahili at the university level in the United States. PhD preferred. Job requirements are to teach three classes a year, to engage in appropriate professional activities and to undertake limited departmental service.
