Assistant Men’s Hockey Coach – Athletics

Gustavus Adolphus College is seeking applications for the position of assistant men’s hockey coach. Primary duties include serving as the first assistant in the men’s varsity hockey program in addition to recruiting quality student athletes for the college. Additional duties will be assigned according to qualifications and interest. Possibilities include teaching lifetime activity courses in the Health and Exercise Science department, and/or administrative duties. Gustavus, a strong liberal arts college competes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as an NCAA Division III member.

Director for Institutional Effectiveness

The Director for Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership for the College’s Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation effort; the College’s grant-funded Achieving the Dream initiative, and the College’s activities related to Washington State’s Student Achievement Initiative. In addition, this position facilitates faculty driven initiatives to improve student success; oversees the College’s instructional assessment and institutional research functions; and monitors the assignment and completion of activities identified in the College’s annual operational plan. This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

Director of Campus Safety – Campus Safety

Gustavus Adolphus College seeks a proven, progressive, and dedicated leader eager to provide leadership for and management of its Department of Campus Safety.



Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs /Dean of Students, the Director of Campus Safety is responsible for: 1) the development, implementation, and management of campus safety and security programs and services including but not limited to security, environmental health and safety, fire safety, emergency management, and key control, 2) compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations related to campus safety, and 3) ensuring that day-to-day security, public safety functions, and new initiatives are aligned with the College’s Strategic Plan.



Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred; minimum of ten years of experience in safety, security, law enforcement, or related field; a minimum of five years of supervisory experience including personnel management; experience in administration of a comprehensive safety and security program; skilled conflict management and resolution skills; knowledge of laws, rules, codes and currently accepted principles and practices relevant to safety and security operations in an educational or public facility including OSHA, NFPA, and FEMA NIMS; valid Minnesota State driver’s license.

Head Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Coach – Athletics

Gustavus Adolphus College is seeking applications for the position of head men’s and women’s track and field coach. This is a full-time 9.5 month administrative contract with an excellent benefits package. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Duties begin August 15, 2009, or at a mutually negotiated date.



Principle responsibilities include directing all phases of a competitive men’s and women’s program, which includes recruitment of student-athletes, organizing and planning of practices and meet strategies, scheduling, budgeting, planning of team travel, and supplemental fundraising. Other important responsibilities include administrative duties assigned by the director of athletics.



The head coach must also demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to upholding the rules and regulations of the college, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and NCAA Division III. Additional opportunities include international travel and competition with the track and field team as well as summer track and field camps.



Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree with a master’s degree preferred. Experience as a college coach may receive preference; recruiting experience is desirable. Assistant Athletic Trainer – Athletic Training

Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, nine and one half month administrative position beginning August 15, 2009. The qualified candidate will cover sports assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer, with some travel required. There may also be opportunities for instruction of activities classes in our Health and Exercise Science Department.



Qualifications required include a master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field, BOC certified athletic trainer, and Minnesota registered or eligible. American Red Cross CPR/FA instructor and intercollegiate experience preferred.

Multi-Cultural Recruitment Admission Counselor – Admission

Gustavus Adolphus College seeks an admission counselor to join a seasoned professional staff. As a member of the admission team, the counselor will assist in the recruitment and selection of new students (first-year and transfer) for the college. The counselor will represent the college at high school visits, college fairs, special programs and individual meetings with students and their families. The counselor will play a leadership role in developing, nurturing and maintaining contacts with diverse communities in greater Minnesota, the metropolitan areas and selected national areas. The person will also be responsible for developing campus visit programs and special visit days. The counselor will work closely with the other counselors in encouraging the recruitment of diverse students from individual territories. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree, excellent verbal and writing skills, high energy, an appreciation for liberal arts education and a genuine interest in working with diverse populations. Donor Relations Associate – Advancement Services

Digital Photography/Video – Art

Gustavus Adolphus College invites nominations and applications for a one-year position of Visiting Assistant Professor in Digital Photography/Video Art for the Department of Art to begin September 1, 2009.
