1.) GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities: The Recycling Assistant will be responsible for helping implement UC Merced’s recycling program on campus. They will work directly for a Student Recycling Coordinator. Primary duties will include:
a. Working within Facilities Management to implement campus wide collection, sorting (if required), analysis, and proper disposal of recycled materials. This may include the satellite sites of Grogan, Castle and the Mondo building. Physically take part in analysis and transport of recycled and waste materials. Drive university pickup truck and electric carts.
b. Monitoring recycling and waste containers for fill and contamination. Report discrepancies and fill rates to coordinator.
c. Interfacing with community agencies including staff, faculty, and other students, especially residents. Provide basic education on recycling at events and as needed. Create new programming and solve waste-related problems.
d. Keeping accurate records of waste stream as directed.
e. Maintaining a pre-consumer waste composite pile.
a. Good written, verbal communications and computer skills.

c. Possess a valid California Driver’s License.
