Position: Finance Faculty
Department: School of Business
Availability: Fall 2009, Full-time, 9-month faculty contract (pending funding)
Responsibilities: Teaching various finance courses and related business courses at the undergraduate and graduate level as needed. Additional duties may include advising students; supervising internships; and participating in assigned committees, functions, and duties in the School of Business and Southern Nazarene University.

  • Hold a Ph.D. or DBA in the area of finance desired.
  • Possess a record of strong teaching experience or relative industry experience.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Have a high work ethic.
  • Have a record of meaningful scholarship or performance within the field.
  • Be committed to the mission, vision and values of Southern Nazarene University.
  • Have the ability to connect business and finance with a Christian world-view and perspective.

Note: international or non-profit experience is a strong plus.

Job Detail: The School of Business offers eight undergraduate degrees including a B.S. in Finance along with an MBA/MSM program. Approximately 225 undergraduate students are enrolled in the School of Business; of these, 10-15 percent are Finance majors. Student outcomes for the school of business include:

  • developing a business philosophy as a calling in order to integrate one’s professional life within a framework of Christian principles and ethical business conduct;
  • demonstrating competencies in content areas in preparation for business and professional careers in various fields including not-for-profit organizations;
  • demonstrating servant-leadership and teamwork skills in communicating, problem solving, and relating to others;
  • developing and demonstrating knowledge of current business trends including a global business perspective;
  • preparedness for graduate studies and professional certification in selected fields of business or law; and
  • using information and technology effectively for problem solving and communicating professionally.
