Job Duties:

Position Specific Summary: Oversee all aspects for career advising, career coaching and consulting efforts of the office. This may include recruiting, training and supervising professional career advisors and career coaches. Supervise and provide oversight for career related programming efforts and related course curriculum development. Provide comprehensive individual and group career advising to undergraduate students. Help students identify and pursue career goals and appropriate educational preparation, and assist in the job search process. Lead a team to promote campus-wide utilization of career information resources. Build and maintain relationships with key faculty members and staff campus wide and teach assigned courses.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Enhance and Support Student Educational Experiences and Increase Retention. Foster a Sense of Community and Engagement for Students.

Oversees all current and may lead the creation of new career advising/coaching initiatives provided by the Pomerantz Career Center

Advises, orients and provides assistance to students, faculty and staff in the use of occupational and job search resources.

Advises students on career decision-making strategies, career/alternative exploration, and job search strategies.

Oversees the review, updating and expansion of career resources covering a wide range of careers, educational/training requirements, job outlook, employment environments, job search aids, career/life-style, government information, etc.(website, PCC Career Guide)

Prepares specialized reports as requested.

Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of complex changes in the workplace and economic outlook as they impact student career choices, preparation, and employment.

Stays informed of other campus resources that support student success.

Establish and Maintain Relationships with Partners to Provide Educational Support Services. Partners Include on-campus Units and External Agencies (Local, State, National and International)

• Supervises the development and facilitation of academic and career success related programs and workshops.

• Supervises the organization, design, planning and promotion of campus-wide utilization of career information resources.

• Supervises, coordinate and administer assigned programs with key staff to achieve programmatic goals.

• Oversees advising staff of the Pomerantz Career Center on campus outreach efforts with Colleges and faculty.

• Leads and designate assigned special project coordination and implementation.

Administrative (HR, Budget), Supervision and Training

• May serve on the PCC Administrative Team; assist with department-wide decision making, strategic planning and problem solving.

• Recruits supervise, train, schedule and evaluate professional and student staff providing career advising/coaching and related programs

• Monitors budget, review and recommend expenses associated with career advising services, online resources

• Advocates, plan and encourage professional development for staff and students

• Responsible for maintaining internal communication with the advising team

• Responsible for communication with students who have misused services or who are dissatisfied with services

• Leads program development and assessment planning for career advising and coaching.
