Creighton's move to the Big East Conference has opened up new opportunities to engage alumni and friends in support of Creighton Athletics and the University. The Senior Director of Development, Athletics provides leadership of a strategic and comprehensive philanthropy program for the Creighton University Athletics program. Responsibilities include major gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. The Director will also work to increase Creighton Fund giving and Jaybacker giving. The Director will work closely with the Athletic Director and Associate Athletic Director to increase opportunities for engagement and support nationally for Athletics programs. The Senior Director will carry his/her own portfolio of Athletics prospects. Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 7 years experience of demonstrated, successful major gift fundraising preferred. Significant personnel and program management experience required. Demonstrated success in personal cultivation and solicitation activities. Volunteer management and experience working with councils and boards preferred. Experience in higher education and a national campaign environment preferred. Experience with and understanding of how Athletic Departments run in a University setting preferred. Appreciation and understanding of Creighton University's mission and the ability to effectively communicate it. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with Advance or comparable fund-raising database. Ability to think strategically and quickly summarize complex and detailed information. Ability to travel nationally for athletics events and prospect visits.
