Description:
The Interlibrary Services Student Specialist assists the Interlibrary Services Coordinator with daily ILL duties such as receiving and processing material borrowed from other institutions for UC Merced campus faculty, students and staff. The Interlibrary Services Student Specialist pulls material from library shelves, processes and delivers material to campus users; ships items to other borrowing institutions, scans articles to be sent electronically to other UC ILL units and campus users; uses the ILL system’s database, VDX, to process and track materials.
The Interlibrary Services Student performs basic library tasks including but not limited to: shelving, collection maintenance, circulation activities, public service including basic information and reference services, limited desktop support and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Required:

• good oral and written communication skills; print and write neatly
• work independently
• lift and shelve up to 25 lbs. at a time
• operate a computer and other office equipment; type accurately with a keyboard
• familiarity with University Library and UC Merced’s catalog
• knowledge of CatTracks Shuttle to and from Castle
Preferred:
• public / customer service experience.
• experience with computers – preferably Microsoft Windows/Office; basic word-processing skills
• previous library experience.
• filing and file-keeping skills.
• data entry experience.
• familiarity with Melvyl catalog; ability to perform complex searches
• familiarity with Library of Congress classification system
